Demand for retail deposits is at an all time high as the market looks for alternate funding sources in response to the global wholesale funding squeeze. International Guest Speaker Dick Ensweiler, and industry peers Mark Genovese and Steve James will examine different strategies that have been successful over the past year and will explore, through open discussion with the floor, the right strategy for Australian mutuals at this time. Tony Innes, Savings & Loans; Damien Walsh, mecu; Tony Ryan, Big Sky; and Geoffrey Seccombe, Maitland Mutual Building Society will canvass the opportunities for mutuals in these areas of growing community interest, and consider examples of market response and innovation to encourage industry debate.
Governance Stream Business Session 3: Board strategies for growth

The keynote address in this session delivered by Denise Morton, will explore how Boards get out of the day to day running of the organisation and focus on strategies for growth.  The session will discuss effective strategies for growth with useful tools to assist in decisions about the right strategy in these changing and challenging times. Case studies from South West Slopes Credit Union and Australian Unity will provide practical examples of how each of the member institution’s Boards has set its growth strategy.
