Tour #1 Darwin City Tour

Darwin is the capital of the Northern Territory, and enjoys a relaxed, tropical lifestyle. Darwin is an ideal base for visits to spectacular World Heritage areas including Kakadu National Park. Darwin has grown from an early and remote outpost to a thriving modern capital city. As well as galleries and museums, there are nightclubs, theatres, restaurants and a casino. The city houses an amazing history including 3 cyclones, with its worst being Cyclone Tracy in 1974, which destroyed most of the town. Darwin was miraculously rebuilt after the disaster and now houses many galleries and museums, including many Aboriginal collections. Aboriginal culture is very much etched into the community.

Join the famous Adelaide River Jumping Crocodile Cruise. Your local guide will entice the crocodiles to leap out of the water. The cruise will enable you to see these prehistoric creatures at close range. Continue to the Window on the Wetlands Visitors Centre for views over the Marrakai Plains and then on to Fogg Dam Nature Reserve, before returning to Darwin.

Established in 1992, the Territory Wildlife Park is a project of the Northern Territory Government, Parks and Wildlife division. Situated in Berry Springs, a 45 minute drive south of Darwin's CBD, and conveniently located next door to Berry Springs Nature Reserve the Territory Wildlife Park truly is the Territory's wildest wildlife experience! At the Territory Wildlife Park, not only do you see wildlife up-close in their natural habitats, you meet them walking through tree top aviaries, strolling around a natural lagoon and even get to interact with them during daily presentations. You stroll beneath the surface in our walk-through aquarium and meet some of the Top End's most amazing aquatic life. You meet, nose to nose, with our giant Saltwater croc. It's the closest you'll ever get to a salty without risking a scratch!

Tour #4 From Orchids To Didgeridoos

This afternoon we will travel south of Darwin stopping at Jenny's Orchid Garden one of the best commercial orchid nurseries open to the public in Australia. Set on two acres the orchid garden has the largest variety of tropical ephiphytic orchids in the Northern Territory. Our next stop is the Didgeridoo Hut, set on 20 acres on the outskirts of Darwin the Didgeridoo Hut is owned and operated by Aboriginal people. Using traditional methods and unique designs their products are produced by very talented, local Northern Territory Aboriginal artists and vary from hand-woven baskets through to paintings, didgeridoos, carvings and sculptures.

Tour #7 Kakadu National Park

Turning off the Stuart Highway, we travel along the Arnhem Highway passing the major river systems and wetland regions into Kakadu National Park. After crossing the South Alligator River we begin to explore the World Heritage Area of Ubirr Rock where we climb up through the ancient Aboriginal rock art galleries with interesting and informative commentary from your guide, to the lookout for the famous view over surrounding wetlands. We then visit the Bowali Visitor Centre with informative displays, and continue to Cooinda to join Kakadu's fabled Yellow Water Wetlands Cruise to experience the beauty of the Kakadu wetlands. Late afternoon we make our way out of Kakadu National Park, viewing Jabiru Township and pausing for an evening snack (own expense) at the Bark Hut Inn. Arrive Darwin mid evening.

Visiting the main falls of Litchfield National Park, you have the opportunity for scenic and interpretive bush and monsoon vine forest walks. View Florence Falls from a high vantage point before making your way down the stairs to the plunge pool below. Visit Tolmer Falls for a magnificent view of the water cascading down to the deep waterhole below. We venture to Wangi Falls for another opportunity for a swim in the large crystal clear pool and an optional steady climb through the monsoon vine forest to the top of the falls. A great day also for taking many interesting photos, including the amazing stand of termite mounds.

Tour #9 Katherine Gorge

Travel south through tropical country, passing former WWII airstrips. We make a short stop at the Adelaide River War Cemetery, a site dedicated to those killed in the air raids in Darwin in the 1940s. Continue to Edith Falls, where there is time for a refreshing swim in the waterhole beneath the falls (conditions permitting). Join a 2 hour scenic cruise through Katherine Gorge in Nitmiluk National Park. Enjoy a brief tour of Katherine, the third largest town in the Territory and hub of the region's cattle and farming industries. An evening stop is made at Adelaide River where you may purchase dinner (own expense). You may like to sample the famous 'Barra and Chips', before returning to Darwin.

Tour #10 Tiwi Island Tour

Date: Thursday, 23rd October

Depart at 8.00am for the 30 minute flight to Bathurst Island to join a guided journey through the modern day Aboriginal community of Nguiu. Visit the museum with its displays of traditional art and depictions of the Tiwi `Dreamtime' stories and the Early Mission Precinct with its unique Tiwi style Catholic Church. Visit the Arts and Crafts Centres for the opportunity to purchase Tiwi arts and crafts at island prices. At morning tea spend time with our guides and Tiwi ladies enjoying billy tea and damper. Witness traditional totem dances and a smoking ceremony to bless the visitors and hear about the meanings behind them. Visit a Tiwi burial site and learn some of the complex rituals associated with the Pukamani Poles (burial poles). Includes: Return airfare Darwin to Bathurst Island.
